Smaller Part Preparation

Up until now I have been focused on "big stuff", like the frame, suspension, body tub, etc.
Well, now that the tub and body panels are off at the media blasters, I realized I need to start working on "smaller stuff", like brake and clutch pedals, engine mounts, and all the various brackets !

Of course the first step is getting all the grease / gravel, etc. off these parts. Then, a combination of chemicals, drill powered wire wheels / flap sander, and elbow grease are used to get down to mostly bare metal.

The further you dig around in your "parts" containers, the more stuff you find....like the little covers for the windshield wiper boxes and a hook that is part of the rear tub mount

After the parts are cleaned, a coat of primer is applied and they are hung out to dry.

Most of these parts got a coat of POR-15 high gloss black top coat...dries to a nice hard finish.

But a few items, like the emergency brake clevises and pins, got painted red !

As each part is completed, it's wrapped up in protective paper, labeled, and put away in box labeled "fresh painted parts".  During the re-assembly process, they will be ready to go!
